New [Additions to My] Skincare Routine!

IMG_0530

Hello hello! I've been to Sephora a couple of times in the past few weeks to pick up some new products to incorporate into my current skincare routine. If you care to see what I've recently added to my skincare shelf, well let's get on reading! :-)

It all started with dry skin.....

In late November/early December, I started noticing white patches around my nose area and that my skin had become oilier throughout the day. I thought, I moisturize well in the morning, so it couldn't be that. Then it hit me that I don't moisturize at night, let alone wash my face! I figured since washing my face with a cleanser twice a day would dry my skin and break me out more, I would just use my Balea makeup cleansing wipes to clean my makeup + cleanse + moisturize simultaneously. Little did I know that you don't always have to use those harsh, basic-chemicaled cleansers to get rid of makeup. That's when I had an epiphany - OIL CLEANSERS!
I actually tried to stay away from oil cleansers after being traumatized from using Kose's oil cleanser (that so many people seem to love, but I'd rather pass on). Although it seemed to do the job of removing my makeup efficiently, it broke me out ever so terribly. Nevertheless, when this realization occurred to me, I decided to give oil cleansers another chance and I went with the Shu Uemura Anti/Oxi Skin Purifier. Long story short, let's just say it was the best skincare decision I've ever made and I will never look back.

Naturally, after I started to cleanse my face at night, I'd want to find a night-specific moisturizer that's different from the one I've been using in the morning. This prompted me to pick up this little bundle of a miracle by Ole Henriksen from Sephora. Oh. My. Goodness. I have a newfound love in Ole Henriksen skincare products! I have been using their Vitamin Plus moisturizer in my current skincare routine for about a month and the Truth Serum (from my Sephora haul here) for a few weeks. The Invigorating Night Treatment serum (green bottle) is heavenly, as is the Sheer Transformation moisturizer. For my nighttime routine, I apply the INT serum and then ST moisturizer to seal it off. They have been working so wondrously well on my skin and I am so glad I took the jump to try out something new without any recommendations!

In my daily skincare routine post, I briefly mentioned the OH Vitamin Plus moisturizer. I have since grown fond of it and now it's a skincare staple. I can't get through the day without applying it! It moisturizes my skin so well without making it greasy, even though it's lacking in the oil control department – all the pros definitely overpower the cons. Perhaps I should do an extensive review on this moisturizer someday?

Continuing on... when I went to Sephora to get the trio, I also managed to snag a new cleanser. I find that the Shiseido cleanser I have been using in the morning stings my eyes so badly. I've been ignoring it all this time, but I reached a point where I just couldn't tolerate it anymore. And I've found that it's been making my skin drier each time I use it. So I when I went to Sephora, I had this on my agenda as well - to find a good, effective cleanser that works well with my Clarisonic and doesn't dry out my skin. I went over to the AmorePacific counter and contemplated my bids. I had only done limited research, but at the same time I was kind of prepared to cash out $60 for this 120 ML cleanser. I had heard great things about this brand, so I just shrugged my shoulders and ended up cashing out that $60 on this little gem. Yep, excellent decision. I've noticed such a huge difference in the texture and appearance of my skin ever since I started to use these products.

And of course, no skincare routine would be complete without eye creams. While I love my current eye cream from TheFaceShop, I've had it for a while and am running out of it. So during the 20% promo at Sephora (you can see this from my Sephora Haul post), I decided to buy another eye cream by a different brand - Origins! I really like it so far. It's moisturizing and has anti-aging properties. Sounds good to me. I would apply this eye cream at night right after I cleanse my face and before I put on serum.

IN SUMMARY, here is a step-by-step of what I do in my skincare routine, day and night:

A.M.
- Cleanse face with Clarisonic and Shiseido/AmorePacific cleanser
- Apply Flebote eye cream by TheFaceShop
- Apply Truth Serum serum by Ole Henriksen
- Apply Vitamin Plus moisturizer by OH
- Makeup routine!

P.M.
- Remove makeup + cleanse face with Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil
- Apply Origins anti-aging eye cream
- Apply Invigorating Night Treatment serum by OH
- Apply Sheer Transformation moisturizer by OH

And voila, I'll have the smoothest skin like a baby's bottom. I currently swear by this routine, so I guarantee you I'll be sticking to it for a while.

If you'd like me to do a review on any of these products, I'll be more than happy to do so! Thanks for reading this post. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Much love xox
Hazel
