It is less than 3 weeks shy of C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S!! I've got my Christmas jingles and holiday spirit on! If you haven't, maybe these Christmas favourites of mine might just help you get there. I will be talking primarily about my current favourite scented candles for Christmas, but will include some extras of the few things I love doing/having at Christmas time. Let's jump into it!
WARNING: Dark photos ahead
SCENTED CANDLES
My current favourite candles are from Bath & Body Works (go figure) in the scents Vanilla, Chestnut & Clove No. 2, Cotton, and Mahogany Teakwood. Keep in mind that I carried over these candles from last year as I have not purchased any this year (saving is good ;-)).
You know, all this time I thought the vanilla scent was called "Vanilla Vetiver", but just as I was writing this blog post, I realized that 'Vetiver' is French for Vanilla. WOW. I also realized, all of a sudden, that I am a genius. Genius. I digress.
I'm not usually a huge fan of vanilla-scented things, but I love this candle. It's my second favourite out of this bunch. It doesn't smell as vanilla-y or milky as other vanilla scents. In fact, it has a faint woody undertone, which I'm a fan of.

My next favourite candle is THE number 1 on my list and it's called Chestnut & Clove No. 2. It's the Christmas-iest scent you will ever smell!! It's a tradition that I light this candle in my room a few weeks/days before Christmas day and it just gets me into the spirit right away. I lit this last year and stocked up on another jar for this year.

My next favourite isn't as seasonal as the others, and it's Cotton. Yes, cotton. When lit alone, it gives you the crispiest, freshest scent ever... as if you just took your laundry out of the drier and dumped it all on your bed. I love combining this with my next favourite candle –
Mahogany Teakwood. I've been through a couple of this. At first I bought it because it smells like Abercrombie & Fitch (as everybody else would agree). I don't know what it is about that store or that particular perfume of theirs, but it's got everyone hooked to it, including me. I thought the woody and musky scent was super attractive and holiday-ish. I think BBW initially released this as one of their limited edition candles, but due to its popularity, they decided to bring it out again. I haven't been to the store in a while, so I don't know the current situation, but I hope they still have this scent available.
I recently experimented combining Cotton and Mahogany Teakwood together. To my surprise, the two created a harmonious blend, well, to my nose at least they did. The fresh, crisp scent actually balances out the woody and musky scent of the latter.

Once I have my candles lit, I jump back into my bed and have a little snuggle in my fluffy white throw that I bought from Indigo/Chapters. It's so fluffy......

There's also this pretty nifty thing that I almost forgot to share with you.

I'm not exactly sure what this is, how it's supposed to work, or if I'm using it correctly, but it's this round pillow sort of thing with a hole in the middle that goes all the way to the other side.

I am ASSUMING it's kind of like a gigantic glove for your hands when they're cold, but it can also be used as a pillow...? If you have any idea on what this is/how to use it, please let me know. I've been using this as a pillow/glove/pillow-glove, though, and I think it works great. It's darn cute, too (FYI I'm the biggest Hello Kitty maniac).
And then I either journal, read, or watch something on Netflix/my laptop.

The Power of Why by Amanda Lang is my current read and favourite at the moment. Whether or not you're from a business background, give this book a read. It offers great insight about our innate curious disposition.
I also like to watch Christmas movies on Netflix or my computer.

MY ALL-TIME FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MOVIES:
- Home Alone 1&2
- It's a Wonderful Life
- Miracle on 34th Street
- Elf
- Love Actually
- A Christmas Carol (1984)
Whilst I'm reading/writing/writing a blog post, I like to play some Christmas music in the background. I love to listen to anything classic, ex. Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Elvis's Christmas music, etc.
Some of the more contemporary Christmas albums that I like:
Last but not least....
THE CHRISTMAS SNACKS!!
I usually prefer savoury snacks to sweet ones because I like to indulge in the tongue-twisting tang (-> this is unintentional) of monosodium glutamate. But when the days are a bit gloomy or chillier, then I'd opt for something more comforting like a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows, tea, or almond milk, and some chewy cookies.
And then to top it all off (if you don't have easily sweaty feet like me), you can put on a pair of cute fuzzzzzzzzy socks! Bath and Body Works usually has some really adorable ones that are infused with shea butter. You might as well get the full experience, right?? Check them out by clicking on this link! Also, I'm not sure if it works the same way online, but a lot of the time, when you shop directly at the store in person, you can score some really good deals (with coupons or without, depends on the promo). Sign up to receive emails and you won't miss any of the sales that are going on.
That's it for my Christmas favourites! If you'd like to share your personal faves or have anything to add to this list, or whatever it may be, as always, feel free to comment or leave your thoughts somewhere on this blog. I will definitely read it and reply :-).
Have a safe and wonderful holiday, everybody!!!
